“Get off the ice,” he called, his voice rough, cutting through the stillness like a blade. He stood there, arms crossed, his black jacket clinging to his broad shoulders, eyes locked on me with that infuriating intensity.
I ignored him, pushing into a spin, the scrape of my skates loud in defiance. “Fuck off, Vasco. I’m not your dog.”
He didn’t move, just watched me, his jaw tight. “You’re gonna break your damn ankle, and I’m not carrying you back.”
I skidded to a stop, chest heaving, and glared at him across the rink. “What’s it to you? You don’t give a shit about me—just your precious control.”
His lips twitched, a dangerous spark lighting his eyes. “Keep talking, Ivana. See where it gets you.”
I stepped off the ice, yanking off my skates with jerky movements, my blood simmering. Barefoot, I stormed toward him, the cold concrete biting my soles. “You don’t get to follow me here and act like you own me. I’m done with your games.”
He closed the distance in two strides, towering over me, his heat clashing with the rink’s chill. “You think this is a game?” His voice dropped, low and gritty, and before I could snap back, his hand shot out, grabbing my waist and pulling me flush against him. “You ran out on me. You don’t get to do that.”
My breath hitched, my hands slamming against his chest to push him off, but he didn’t budge. His grip tightened, fingers digging into my hips through my leggings, and I hated how my body reacted—heat pooling low, my pulse racing. “Let go,” I hissed, shoving harder, but it was like fighting a wall.
“No.” His other hand slid up my back, tangling in my hair, tugging my head back so I had to look at him. His eyes were black fire, burning through me. “You wanna fight me? Fine. But you’re not walking away.”
Then his mouth was on mine, hard and hungry, stealing the air from my lungs. It wasn’t gentle—it was a claim, a punishment, his lips bruising mine as he kissed me like he wanted to devour me whole. I bit him, tasting the metallic tang of blood, and he growled, the sound vibrating through me. His hand slid down, cupping my ass, lifting me until my legs wrapped around his waist on instinct, the rough fabric of his jeans grinding against me through my thin leggings.
“Fuck you,” I gasped against his mouth, my nails clawing at his neck, but I didn’t stop kissing him—couldn’t. He pressed me back against the rink’s barrier, the cold metal biting into my spine as his hips rocked into mine, hard and deliberate. I moaned, the sound slipping out before I could stop it, and his grip on my hair tightened, pulling just enough to make my scalp sting.
“You hate me so much, huh?” he rasped, his lips trailing to my jaw, teeth scraping my skin. “Then why’re you so wet for me?” His hand slipped between us, bold and unapologetic, cupping me through my leggings, and I jolted, a whimper escaping as he pressed his palm against me. “I can feel you, Ivana. You’re fucking dripping.”
“Shut up,” I snapped, but my voice was shaky, my body betraying me as I arched into his touch. I grabbed his wrist, not to stop him, but to guide him, pushing his hand harder against me. “You don’t get to win this.”
He smirked, dark and wicked, and then his fingers slipped under my waistband, finding me bare and soaked. “Oh, I’m winning,” he muttered, sliding two fingers inside me with no warning, curling them just right. I cried out, my head falling back against the barrier, and he didn’t let up—pumping them slow, deep, his thumb circling my clit until I was trembling, clinging to him like he was the only thing keeping me upright.
“Say it,” he demanded, his voice rough against my ear, his breath hot. “Say you’re mine.”
“Never,” I gasped, but it was weak, my hips rocking against his hand, chasing the edge he was pushing me toward. He added a third finger, stretching me, and I choked on a moan, my nails digging into his shoulders hard enough to draw blood.
“Lie to yourself all you want,” he growled, his lips brushing mine again, teasing now. “But your body’s begging for me.” He thrust his fingers harder, faster, and I was so close—teetering on the brink, my vision blurring—when he pulled his hand away.
I whimpered, the loss hitting me like a punch, my body throbbing with need. “What the hell—” I started, but he cut me off, grabbing my chin and forcing my eyes to his.
“You don’t come until you say it,” he said, his voice pure steel, his wet fingers brushing my lips, smearing me across them. “You’re mine, Ivana. Fucking say it.”
I glared at him, panting, my chest heaving, every nerve screaming for release. “Go to hell,” I spat, but it lacked bite, my resolve cracking under the weight of his stare.
He leaned in, his lips hovering over mine, so close I could taste him. “I’m already there. And I’m taking you with me.” Then he kissed me again, slow this time, dirty and deep, his tongue sliding against mine as his hand slipped back down, teasing me again, keeping me right on the edge without letting me fall.
A sharp crack split the air—a gunshot, distant but unmistakable.
Vasco froze, his head snapping toward the sound, his body tensing against mine. My heart slammed into my ribs, the haze of lust crashing into cold reality. “What was that?” I whispered, my voice trembling, my hands still gripping his jacket.
He pulled back, his eyes narrowing as he scanned the dark beyond the rink. “Stay here,” he ordered, setting me down so fast I stumbled, his hand already reaching for the gun tucked at his waistband.
“No way—” I started, but he shot me a look that shut me up—pure murder in his eyes. He stepped away, moving toward the shadows, and that’s when I saw it: a figure lurking near the entrance, holding something that glinted in the dim light.
“Vasco!” I shouted, but he was already gone, charging into the dark. Another shot rang out, closer this time, and my stomach dropped. Was it my father’s men? His enemies? Or something worse—something tied to the secrets he’d buried so deep I didn’t even know where to start digging?
I was alone, half-dressed, my body still buzzing with unspent desire, and all I could think was: What the fuck have I gotten myself into?"
